Old Kempton DistilleryOld Kempton Distillery produces one of two 'paddock to bottle' single malt whisky distilleries in the world (the other is Kilchoman in Scotland). We grow our own barley, draw our water from our 2km of Plenty River water frontage, steep and floor malt the barley and mash and distil in our circa 1857 granary building. A cooper prepares French oak barrels on site, and our whisky is left to mature in peace in our hop kiln. Redlands Distillery uses barrels sourced from local Tasmanian vineyards. Corra Lynn DistilleryThe Tasmanian climate may not be so good for all year round for warm weather based activities, although it does make whisky drinkers of the world happy. The cooler climate has the capacity to craft the perfect barrel, this is due to the diurnal range which is a fancy word for the temperate range between the maximum and the minimum. This optimal climate also allows for other ingredients to grow to its full potential. Corra Lin Distillery separates themselves from other distilleries because of the the barley that can be grown in Northern Tasmania particularly is distinct and unique in its flavour. Water in Tasmania is also some of the cleanest around the world, making it one of the purest ingredients of Tasmanian Whisky.
Spring Bay DistillerySpring Bay Distillery produces unique whisky and gin on Tasmania's east coast. Bruny Island House of WhiskyThe Trapper's Hut label was created in 2008, when barrels of Tasmanian whisky bought as investments in 2000 could not be sold 'as is'. The whisky was found to be outstanding, so the owners were encouraged to bottle the spirit under their own label.
