Tasmanian Craft Huon Pine Homewares
- Geeveston -

For people who love handmade craft, Makers on Church Street, Geeveston is where you will find it. Tasmanian craft is chosen with care covering a variety of mediums displayed at its best throughout what is a truly huge gift shop. Tasmanian woodcraft is our speciality, including but not limited to an array of exclusive hand turned bowls, platters, coffee tables, chopping boards, barometers, salad servers, cheese and pate knives. Beautiful just to look at or functional to use, we have both. Local craftsmen thrive at utilising our unique rich native timbers including Huon Pine, Black Heart Sassafras, Myrtle, Blackwood and Tasmanian Oak.

Huon Pine, much prized for furniture making and cabinetry work especially the bird's eye and figured timbers, is also used for small artefacts, homewares, souvenirs and creative woodcraft of which Tasmanian Craft has a varied selection available in store or for purchase online. Highly prized by wood craftsmen due to its ease of use, Huon pine is initially a pale straw colour but mellows to a really deep golden lustre over time with a strong aromatic perfume.
